As a law student on both a budget and a diet, I decided to indulge once a week in my love for craft beer. The result was a weekly ritual involving an in depth look into the specific beer I chose. Beer of the Week 80 - 8/3/2011: Boulevard Brewing Co. Saison-Brett
Out of Missouri, Boulevard makes some really inventive beers in their Somkestack Series; this is one of them. Saison-Brett is your standard, refreshing saison…with one small difference: wild yeast called Brettanomyces. Brett gives any beer a funky, barn-yard-like flavor that really makes it a quite earthy flavor profile. This one was no exception. Refreshing and funky all at the same time. Worth seeking out if you have the chance.
