Beer of the Week 90 - 10/12/2011: Kuhnhenn Brewing Co. Fourth Dementia (4D)
Wow, 90 weeks? Only 10 more till the big 1-0-0! For this week, I have another AMAZING beer from the little brewery in Warren, MI: Kuhnhenn. They are known for their big ABV beers and extremely rich and complex flavor profiles.
4D is an Old Ale that clocks in at a big ole’ 13.5% ABV. And it met every expectation I had. Deep rich flavors of toffee, brown sugar and caramel mixing together for a velvet like feel. Dark fruits and chocolate come in as well making the flavor remind me more of a nice sherry or lighter port than a beer. One of the best, if not the best Old Ale I have ever tasted. Now all I need to do is get my hands on the bourbon barrel aged version! Cheers!
