Beer of the Week 94 - 11/9/2011: Great Divide Smoked Baltic Porter
With the cold weather here and settled in to stay, there’s nothing quite like a good hearty beer to warm you up on those cold nights.  The next few beers are those which I feel do the job during the cold Pittsburgh fall and winter weather.
Great Divide’s Smoked Baltic Porter was just one of those beers the other night while writing a paper.  Rich aromas of smokey charcoal, chocolate and coffee start warming you as soon as you stick your nose in the glass.  The flavors are of chocolate, roasted malts, and earthy, peaty, smoke which warmed me even further as the beer approached room temperature.  A solid smoked porter, although not the best I’ve ever had (see Beer of the Week 2).
