Beer of the Week 96 - 11/23/2011: Troegs Flying Mouflan
Another beer to keep you warm.  And after these past few days in Pittsburgh, it’s much needed.
Flying Mouflan is advertised as a beefed up version of Nugget Nectar (see Beer of the Week 3.5) turned into an American Barleywine.  This was quite a sweet beer, even for my taste.  TONS of hops in this guy with a much maltier backbone than Nugget Nectar had.  It tastes as if the hops were covered in toffee and thrown into an American Barleywine.  A lot of sugary flavors and aromas here which kind of detract from the flavor in my opinion.  Not a bad Barleywine, but there are many better ones out there.
At 9.3% ABV, this is one of the higher ABV beers that Troegs makes.  It certainly did its job on a cold November night.
