Beer of the Week 97 - 11/30/2011: Weyerbacher Blasphemy
The last beer this month is also the last in the line of beers I have featured to keep you warm during these cold winter nights.
Weyerbacher Blasphemy is a beer that came out of a 3 year retirement this past May. Weyerbacher had such a large number of requests to bring this one back, they decided to make it happen. And I could not have been happier about it.
Blasphemy is a bourbon barrel aged Belgian quadrupel. This one is a really great mix of the usual Belgian spices and yeast with some nice barrel aging. Toffee, vanilla, and alcohol soaked fruits like raisins and cherries come through in the taste in a wonderful marriage of flavors. At 11.8% ABV, this one does the job and warms you with the best of them. Worth seeking out for those who are looking to try something really different.
