As a law student on both a budget and a diet, I decided to indulge once a week in my love for craft beer. The result was a weekly ritual involving an in depth look into the specific beer I chose. Beer of the Week 100 - 12/21/2011: East End Brewing Co. Toaster
The big 1-0-0! After 100 weeks posting my picks for the beer of the week, I decided to crack open something VERY special.
Toaster was the 4th anniversary beer brewed by Scott over at East End Brewing Co. in Pittsburgh. Brewed in 2008, this has since been retired and one of my most coveted bottles (since almost every beer nerd I know has been looking for ait!). I was lucky enough to grab this bottle way back before the hype train hit.
Toaster is their Black Strap stout made with even more brown sugar and even more black strap molasses. REALLY intense burnt malt flavors along with burnt brown sugar, burnt molasses and sweet chocolate. One of the most intensely flavored beers I have ever tried. Really awesome beer, and I feel super lucky to have gotten to tried it!
