Beer of the Week 104 - 1/18/2012: Ithaca Brewing Co. Brute
Ithaca has become quite well known for this beer, Brute.  An American Wild Ale, Brute, is “[b]rewed with vintage local hops, American Barley, Wheat and Corn, Brute is fermented on Oak for many months with Brettanomyces, then finished with a blend of three Champagne yeasts.”
Really one of the finer American Wild Ales I have personally tasted.  Nice funky, tart, barnyard like aromas.  The taste fllows the aromas quite well adding some lemon zest and slight acidity, along with a really refreshing evervescence from the Champagne yeasts.  Really nicely brewed beer and one that I would absolutely revisit.
